FinTech NAO enables direct investments in private equity

Berlin, August 29, 2023 — The FinTech NAO (https://www.investnao.com) wants to offer private investors the same investment opportunities that institutional investors have. At the launch, NAO launched equity bonds issued exclusively by UniCredit with monthly interest payments. The Berlin-based company is now launching investments in private equity (PE) starting at 1,000 euros on the German market — without the use of tokenization. This is made possible by his novel co-investment approach via the NAO platform.

NAO significantly lowers minimum investment for direct investments in private equity

Private equity investments generally yield higher returns than regular capital market investments. PE funds invest in unlisted companies in early stages of maturity and/or with high growth potential. However, the minimum investment is usually one million euros and higher. For this reason, PE has so far only been suitable for institutional and very wealthy investors and not for retail investors. FinTechs and some asset managers have already simplified access. With its platform approach, NAO is now reducing the investment hurdle to 1,000 euros.

Novel investment solution provides access to PE Secondaries funds

With NAO's co-investment approach, you can participate in a private equity secondaries fund managed by UBS. UBS is one of the world's largest asset managers. The fund is available to semi-professional investors with a minimum investment of 50,000 euros. NAO is reducing the minimum investment amount from 50,000 euros on its platform to 1,000 euros. The semi-liquid fund can be sold on a quarterly basis — a capital commitment in PE funds of up to ten years is usual.

Opportunities for private investors as a diversification component in the portfolio

Private equity investments conceal private over-the-counter investments in companies that are often among the hidden champions of SMEs. “Innovative FinTechs have done pioneering work and enabled consumers to make direct investments in private equity starting at 50,000 euros. We're going a step further with our multi-asset platform. With NAO, we want to make even more investment opportunities accessible. We want to enable people to choose from all asset classes available on the market and invest from 1,000 euros,” explains CEO and co-founder Robin Binder. “Private equity as an asset class has mostly remained closed to investors so far. This asset class generally offers attractive double-digit returns and is well suited for diversifying the portfolio — regardless of the capital market. ”
