Savings Accounts Compared: How to get more out of your money.
Those looking to park cash short-term often automatically turn to savings accounts. Understandable – but not always optimal.
With a money market fund or money market ETF, you can also keep your available cash accessible daily while investing closer to the current money market rate. This is precisely what makes these products attractive to many investors: They are not a substitute for every investment, but a smart solution for money that shouldn't sit idle in an account.
The difference between the two products is simple:
• The BNP Paribas AM Money Market ETF tracks the €STR, which is the short-term Euro interest rate.
• The Goldman Sachs AM Money Market Fund actively invests in high-quality, short-term money market instruments with a focus on capital preservation and low volatility.
This gives you two ways to intelligently park your cash – depending on whether you prefer index-tracking or actively managed investments.
The Goldman Sachs AM Money Market Fund and the BNP Paribas AM Money Market ETF outperform the average savings account rate. For a €50,000 investment, this translates to approximately €145 in additional annual interest with the fund and around €395 per year with the ETF.

Money market funds vs. money market ETF
Parking, but better. The clever alternative to your cash account.
Money market funds vs. money market ETF
The money market fund actively invests in short-term, high-quality money market instruments and benefits directly from the current money market interest rate. The money market ETF is based on the €STR, i.e. the ECB's short-term interest rate, and aims to remain slightly above it over the long term and systematically add a few basis points to it. Available daily, smart for liquid assets.

What is the difference to cash accounts?
For many people, cash accounts are the first option that comes to mind when they need to keep money readily available in the short term. Money market funds and money market ETFs can be an attractive alternative.
The key difference:
Cash accounts are protected by the statutory deposit insurance up to €100,000 per bank and customer.
Money market funds and money market ETFs are securities and are classified as special funds. This means: In the event of the custodian’s insolvency, they are not part of the insolvency estate.
Money market products invest broadly diversified in short-term instruments with high credit ratings. This makes them attractive to investors who want to park liquidity while investing closer to money market rates - even with amounts exceeding €100,000.

Why did the investment team opt for money market products?
Not all capital should be tied up in the long term and should be used to build up capital over the long term. Some of the funds must be immediately available - and still work. That is exactly why we have selected two solutions for short-term investment horizons.
BNP Paribas AM: For short-term liquidity management, we have selected the “BNP Paribas Easy Overnight ETF”. The ETF represents the euro short-term rate (€STR), i.e. the interest rate at which banks in the Eurozone lend money to each other overnight. In addition, there is a small premium due to the use of total return swaps, i.e. the lending of securities developments. This makes him particularly successful and clearly sets him apart from comparable strategies in the euro area due to a higher return on €STR.
What convinced us: There is hardly a strategy that combines low costs, high liquidity and a benchmark return so well.
Goldman Sachs AM: We work with Goldman Sachs Asset Management to maintain capital and generate steady income. Goldman Sachs AM is one of the most experienced providers in this segment worldwide and provides access to a professionally managed money market portfolio with the “Euro Liquid Reserves”. The actively managed fund invests in short-term debt instruments from issuers with very good credit ratings and keeps quality and liquidity high over the long term. It directly reflects the current interest rate level. What sets him apart for us: Until now, this institutional portfolio quality has mostly been reserved for large asset managers and is ideal as a replacement for call money accounts.
